I was using the “construct points” tool in ArcGIS editor to create points at set distances along features in a polyline shapefile (routes in fact). ArcGIS can generate a specified number of randomly-placed points within the boundary of a layer or inside a selected feature in a layer. Visibility analysis is a spatial analysis of the portions of a line that are visible as opposed to not visible from a starting point. Split Line at Point tool.
